Back-To-School Shopping for the College Girl

If you want complete honesty, once you get to College, you kind of stop caring about what you look like, especially for early morning classes. In class, everyone looks like a hot-mess-hobo, but that’s okay because every girl is on the same page. You roll out of bed, toss on a T-shirt that doesn’t smell, throw your hair into a messy bun, and maybe put on some mascara if you’re really looking horrible, grab a coffee and go. You’re there to learn right? Well yes, but you’re also there to sleep so there’s no time in the morning to get ready for a lecture hall. If you’re someone who enjoys waking up early, taking a shower in your communal bathroom, and looking nice to class, then kudos to you. Hopefully you can keep that up all four years. If that doesn’t sound like you, well then you’re just like everyone else.

Full disclosure, you’re going to want to look nice on weekends. It’s funny how no one judges the way you look during the week, but frat party time an it’s game on. Party attire is different at every College or University, so you’ll quickly figure out what’s okay to wear and what’s totally not. There are some clothing items that are good for every party no matter if you’re at a preppy school or down in the country. One warning that you might want to take into consideration is that your maxi dress is going to have to be soaked in hot water when you get home. The floors of frat houses and bars are gross and sticky, and your maxi dress will be too if you don’t clean it basically immediately.

Jeans

Jeans are essential. You probably have a few pairs you absolutely love, but it’s time to get some party pants as well. Forget your mom jeans, because they’re not going to work come party time. Try on some high-waisted jeans, jeans with rips, boyfriend jeans, etc. They’re comfortable and go with any shirt you can find. More popular choices are to pair when with crop tops and other tanks.

Converse

Yes converse did go out of style a decade ago, but they will come in handy when you need comfy and decent looking shoes to walk around in. Parties are far so you’re walking to them and dancing takes a toll on your feet. You also don’t really want to wear open toed shoes because when you’re packed like sardines in a basement, people are going to dance on your feet.

Party attire is going to be up to you in the long-run, but these are just some items that will get you started. When you get thrown into the fire after living at home for the last 18 years, choosing what you’re going to wear to parties, unfortunately becomes one of the toughest decisions.
